man its so. for fucking YEARS people thought that destiel shippers were just like, rabid fetishizing reaching idiots. we were the pinnacle of cringe and genuinely just thought of as like, the definition of obsessed shippers who see two men standing together and start screaming about them being in love. the superiority compex people had over destiel fans was so surreal because it would come from EVERYONE like okay the johnlock shipper is gonna preach to me? really? not to even mention the actual writers/runners of the show always treating us like we were crazy or making some weird reaches with the canon they gave us when its all right there!! and we know now some of it was absolutely intentional for the endgame, and even when it wasnt endgame yet it was still a romance because of the way they chose to parallel dean and cas with other relationships and the arcs they went through and all of it
like. people getting into the show now and being like “omg wait THIS is what you guys have been watching? i cant believe this is real” is funny but its also like yeah, the undertone is that people just did think we were crazy and making wild reaches for our ship when it has been intentionally there for years. so basically as a destiel shipper who has dealt with the derision and the bullshit for years only to be proven RIGHT…
